Two teachers and child stabbed at school before teenage girl arrested (2024)

A teenage girl has been arrested after two teachers and a pupil were stabbed at a school in South Wales today.

Police and air ambulances rushed to attend Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire this morning, after a stabbing was reported at 11.20am.

Classrooms were put under lockdown, with children only leaving around four hours later.

Superintendent Ross Evans, Carmarthenshire Commander, said: ‘Three people – two teachers and a teenage pupil – have been taken to hospital with stab wounds. The family members of all those injured have been informed.

‘A teenage girl has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and currently remains in police custody.

‘I would like to reassure parents and the public that the incident has concluded, and pupils have now left the school.’

Supt Evans later confirmed none of the victims had suffered fatal injuries and were recovering in hospital.

Many of the parents who had gathered outside the school tearfully hugged their children after they walked out of the school from 3.20pm.
