Upgrade to this fabulous torch. Happy dance! ! !
I do a LOT of upscale restaurant style cooking and love fancy entertaining. So when my old torch died months earlier, I was happy to upgrade and get an improved one. And was this one ever! It kicks @$$ in the kitchen and I'm sure if I let them get their grubby hands on it, the kids/guys would use it constantly in the shop and for starting all kinds of fires. The lock and continuous flow buttons are essential. and this one does a quicker job and is lighter than I expected. leaving me more control and time (who doesn't love that?).

I like the idea of a gas level window on future models, and would add a greater control of the flame, as I work with a range of things and some only need a little flame to caramelize. Other than that, this model is Superb! use it with the meringues and marshmallow treats we made last week and cheese toast, YUM! can't wait to try it on lots more, as I've been rigging my old one and stopped using it for much at all.

this one is great. It's easy lighting
I've had this a week, because it actualy arrived a day earlier than it should have. Though I'd looked at others in the stores recently, this one is great. It's easy lighting, has a nice grip feel and a nice wide base so it doesn't tip over. Even looks nice sitting on my counter ! I have lots of grandkids, so the lock safety feature is a real plus. Great for meringues, quick browning of casserole and dessert toppings, marshmellow smores for the grand kids, and I can't wait to find out what all. I have a baker/caterer daughter who I'm sure would love this. Would highly reccommend it to others and buy it for gifts.

Six stars even.
This torch is amazing. The flame is HUGE. This thing can heat a 19mm Ti nail to glowing red in 10 seconds.

Great torch for jewelry making!
After reading reviews of other torches, found this one. I am glad I did! I contacted the seller to see if this torch would work for jewelry making, including metal smithing and soldering. I was quickly assured that it would. I used it for annealing and soldering. The flame adjusted easily. It does have a safety lock and an on lock for one hand use. Three of us have been using it and putting it through its paces. The seller is knowledgeable and quick to respond. Highly recommend

Have fun with this little gem, worth the money.
This little torch has all the power needed to top off our baking needs. We were looking for easy to fill, easy to use, sturdy metal body. (We were conderned with plastic parts breaking). Some reviews mentioned it could tip over, our concern with this purchase falling over was relieved when we received it. Unless you take off the black base you would have to knock it good to make it fall. It has a lock that is easy to use if there is concern with the flame.(you can hold flame manually or place the lock in place and not have to hold the button in)

I can't stress enough how much we LOVE this unit
I can't stress enough how much we LOVE this unit. I took it to a fair and roasted marshmallows on the spot for people with food allergies. Both kids and adults were tickled by it. This was my first time using one of these, so I'm still getting use to how far I have to hold it away from something before setting it on fire. My only minor complaint is that even on its lowest setting, it's still very powerful.

Good for more than just cooking!
The the torch works great. I haven't got into the culinary side just yet, but it did come in handy for lighting fireworks at a party next to a river. I needed something that would do much better than those cheap "Walmart" long stem lighters and this product surpassed my expectations. The torch even lit when the wind picked up, no problem :) I also used it to start the bonfire that night, and my charcoal grill the following Monday.
The fit and finish is good quality, and I like the weight of the torch my hand. I do feel future versions of this model could benefit from a butane level indicator, but that's no biggie for this review.
Great product, great buy!

I like this model so I bought another version
Makes fire when I push the button. Same model as I've seen under a dozen different names. I like this model so I bought another version. The safety is easily removed if you don't have kids.

It's a good torch for a home chef
First off, I'm not a professional chef nor do I write reviews for extra income. I ordered this torch as an adjunct to my recently purchased Sansaire Sous Vide machine. The best protein cooked in it still look rather anemic. And while the taste and texture are tremendous I wanted that deep, rich searing to go along with the rest. So, that brings me to "The Torch". After reading multiple reviews on multiple products I settled on the Keen Smart model. I purchased via 2DayDeliver Prime and received my torch well packaged, in two days.

Once I opened it and read all the instructions I filled it with butane (not included) and proceeded to "play around" with it a bit as I had noting cooked to actually sear. The unit fits nicely in my smallish hands and is easily grasped and securely held. The checkering on the sides insure a good grip I suspect even if your hands are a bit wet or even greasy. The safety switch is easily accessed on the rear of the unit and although it is rather small, I had no problems with it. The igniter, immediately above the safety switch is much larger and easier to use. Now, the reason I only gave it four stars versus five; it did not and does not ignit first time, every time like I was led to believe. And the ring lies the rub. You have to reset the safety switch every time you attempt to light the torch. I get why. It makes sense. But it's a pain when the thing doesn't light to have to reset it. Most times it lights on the second or third attempt.

The flame adjustment, located adjacent to the nozzle of the torch is ambidextrous. A nice feature for south paws. In fact, all controls are ambidextrous. But the flame control isn't adjustable "on the fly" or at least I haven't figured out how to do so myself. So if you're want g a lazy, little flame, you'd better figure that out before lighting it up.

So far I've actually used it to sear several steaks and a three pound flat brisket. It performed admirably. I haven't had to refill it yet so the tank is a decent size.

I'd prefer if the flame were larger and wider, but then what guy wouldn't?

All in all its a pretty decent product and since it's used only occasionally and not in a professional kitchen it's ideal for me. The removable stand holds the unit nice and safe on the counter and its small size versus a large propane/butane Bernzomatic torch is great for a home chef.
